The European Parliament adopts a resolution condemning Russia's use of disinformation to legitimise the invasion of Ukraine. According to MEPs, Moscow is trying to manipulate public opinion both in Russia and abroad, undermining trust in democratic institutions through false narratives and propaganda.

MEPs warned of the spread of Russian disinformation campaigns in EU member states, where it is trying to influence political processes and weaken support for Ukraine. The resolution calls for stronger measures against disinformation, including sanctions against individuals and organisations responsible for its dissemination.

The European Parliament also stressed the need to support independent media and educational initiatives on media literacy to help citizens better identify manipulative content. MEPs also called on social media platforms to fight more vigorously against Russian propaganda and prevent its spread in the online space.
