Report on the Council's position on the draft general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2025
23. 10. 2024 - MEPs refuse to approve the European Parliament's resolution on the Council's position on the draft general budget of the European Union for the financial year 2025. The European Parliament approves only some sub-budget items.

The European Parliament votes on the EU budget for 2025, with a focus on investment in innovation, public health and action on climate change. MEPs supported an increase in funding for Horizon Europe, which funds research and technological development, and for Erasmus+, which supports education and student mobility.
Funding for health programmes and climate action, including support for renewable energy and emission reductions, also form a significant part of the budget. MEPs stressed that the EU must continue the transition to a sustainable economy and protect biodiversity.
